Anti Hot Spot Polytunnel Greenhouse Tape
Anti Hot Spot Tape is a self adhesive foam tape which is applied to the metal frame and prolongs the life of your polytunnel.
The tape creates a thermal barrier between the polythene cover and the metal framework which will then prevent any weakness from heat degradation.
The low friction surface of the tape allows the polythene cover to glide over the frame when assembling. This will prevent any abrasion and snagging of the cover.
We supply Anti Hotspot Tape in the widths 20mm, 30mm and 40mm. All tapes are 9m long.
Our anti hotspot tape is PE (Polyethylene) and is designed to outlast the cheaper UPVC tapes on the market which can deteriorate rapidly and is one of the main causes of premature polytunnel failure in the UK.
As UPVC degrades from Ultraviolet rays from the sun, it emits toxic gases, such as Vinyl chloride. This chlorine gas will attack the chemical bonds of the polytunnel sheeting. When these chemical polymer chains are broken down it causes a build-up of “weak spots” which will eventually cause the Polytunnel to fail.
Not only does UPVC emit toxic gases as it degrades it also becomes brittle and powdery and as the tape falls apart there will be little to no protection left on your Polytunnel frame. This will cause heat and friction points, again these points are weakened and will eventually cause the polytunnel fail.
Such degradation takes place over a period of time and due to the nature of how polytunnel tape is used would be very difficult to spot before it is too late. Don’t let your Polytunnel fail in this way, use our PE tape safe in the knowledge that it will not decay over time like the cheaper alternative UPVC tapes.
