B-Stock Anti Hot-Spot Tape

Anti Hot-Spot Tape is a self adhesive foam tape which is applied to the metal frame and prolongs the life of your polytunnel. The tape creates a thermal barrier between the polythene cover and the metal framework which will then prevent any weakness from heat degradation. The low friction surface of the tape allows the polythene cover to glide over the frame when assembling. This will prevent any abrasion and snagging of the cover. All tapes are 9m long.

Important:

The only defect in the tape is an extra peel-off tab around 2 meters into the roll of tape (please see images) To avoid any chance of hotspots we recommend cutting this small section out once reached on the roll.

Material Properties:

Our anti hotspot tape is PE (Polyethylene) and will outlast cheaper UPVC tapes on the market. UPVC deteriorates rapidly and is one of the main causes of premature polytunnel failure in the UK. As UPVC degrades from Ultraviolet rays from the sun, it emits toxic gases, such as Vinyl chloride. This chlorine gas will attack the chemical bonds of the polytunnel sheeting. When chemical polymer chains brake down causing a build-up of “weak spots”. Eventually they cause the Polytunnel to fail. Not only does UPVC emit toxic gases as it degrades it also becomes brittle and powdery and as the tape falls apart there will be little to no protection left on your Polytunnel frame. This causes heat and friction points. Again this can severely shorten the lifespan of the polytunnel. Such degradation takes place over a period of time. Due to the nature of how polytunnel tape is used it’s difficult to spot before it is too late. Don’t let your Polytunnel fail in this way. Use our Anti Hot-Spot tape safe in the knowledge that it will not decay over time like the cheaper UPVC alternatives.
