The Cabbage Root Fly
The Cabbage Root Fly can cause brassicas such as cabbage, cauliflowers, Brussels sprouts and broccoli to wither or stop growing and cause cauliflowers to have small heads.
This happens when the wind rocking newly planted plants causes a gap round the stem at soil level. The Cabbage Root Fly enters this gaps and lays her eggs. When the eggs hatch the maggots enter the stem and roots and eat them, killing the plant.
J Arthur Bower’s Cabbage Collars protect your plants from the Cabbage Root Fly.
After planting your plants slide the Cabbage Collar round the stem, this should prevent the Cabbage Root Fly from laying her eggs.
