With shorter, colder and often wetter days, it’s time to make the most of your time in the garden.
Here are a few of our top tips.
- November is the ideal time for planting Tulip Bulbs as the colder temperatures stop the risk from viral and fungal disease, which can remain the soil.
- Think about using feet to raise pots off the ground before the frosts start. Low temperatures will freeze wet compost and potentially kill less hardy plants.
- If you are over wintering plants in the greenhouse then use Triple Laminated Bubble Insulation to trap warmth and protect them against frost.
- Bonfires are a convenient way to dispose of any plant waste that you don’t want to compost. Always check if there are any local restrictions on them as well as making sure there are no animals taking shelter in the pile.
- Feeding birds with a balanced Seed Mix is a great way to attract wildlife into the garden and help then through the coldest months.
- Keep on top of algae and moss on drives and pathways with a hard surface cleaner such as MMC-Pro or Patio Perfect.
- Brassicas are a target for hungry pigeons this time of year, so protecting them with netting can help save your crop done early enough.
