Our Polytunnel Cover/Sheeting is perfect for professional growers, large garden spaces, garden centres and nurseries. Over the past 20 years polytunnel technology has evolved to become a lightweight, durable and great value alternative to glass for the growth of plants in a controlled environment. Our modern polymer has a longer lifespan. This means when fitted correctly our new technology polythene lasts a minimum of 5 years. Elixir Gardens clear polytunnel cover uses tried and tested M-LLDPE technology to give a very high 125Mu strength film.

Full UV Spectrum

Only recently has it been possible to create a polythene which allows the full spectrum of natural UV daylight through. A full UV spectrum film has a dramatic effect on flower, fruit and foliage colours, particularly on the blues and reds. Low-UV is the spectral wavelength required to intensify these colours. Normal films and glass block ultraviolet light below 350 Nms, but our clear film transmits the same full spectrum of natural UV light that plants get outside. Research has shown that natural UV levels also produce a more compact, sturdier plant which is more resistant to disease. Plants root out into the pot better under natural UV films than under conventional types of polythene. UV open films are used by flower growers to increase colour intensity of the flowers and sometimes to reduce stem length. Using a UV open film also enables vegetable growers to grow red leaf salads under cover. It can give soft fruit growers redder strawberry fruit with fewer white tips and less white around the calyx.

Anti-Fogging

Also included in our polythene is an Anti Fog agent. This breaks down the surface tension of the condensation droplets so that they run down the sheet. It reduces drips and retains light clarity. The UV open characteristics of this film means that plants grow as sturdily under this cover as they would if they were outside. All plants with red in their leaves, fruit or flowers also benefit and will have a better colour. Please note: This listing is exclusively for the cover. We do not supply polytunnel frames.

Measuring for your polytunnel cover:

• Determine the width of cover required by measuring one of the hoops from end to end. Add 2m if you are burying the ends in a trench or 1m if fitting to a rail.
• Find the length needed by measuring the length of the polytunnel and adding twice the height to cover both ends. You may wish to add a few extra metres for doors, louvres etc.

To achieve stated lifespan and/or make any guarantee claim, product MUST be installed and maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines using the instruction manual provided. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty for further information. Any repairs made without correct specification of anti-hotspot tape will invalidate the warranty of the poly-tunnel. So we can offer the best possible prices we cut this product bespoke from bulk rolls. Therefore once your order has been cut it cannot be cancelled or returned, as compliant with the consumer protection act 2013 – part 3, paragraph 28, sub-paragraph B. To offer the very best possible value to our customers we will wherever possible dispatch your purchase using the most economical courier service available to us. This is often subject to length and packaging restrictions. For example items advertised as rolls maybe folded into boxes and wide width rolls maybe manufactured folded etc. If you require your items dispatched in a particular manner you must inform us at the time of order.
