Ericaceous Compost (Nutrient Rich Potting Soil for Acidic Plants)

Our Ericaceous Compost is specially formulated for ericaceous plants such as Azaleas, Blueberries, Cranberries, Enkianthus, Gaultheria, Heathers, Kalmia, Pieris and Rhododendrons. There are other plants that would also benefit from acidic soil but are not part of the ericaceous family. These include: Acers, Camellias, Conifers, Gardenias, Holly, Hydrangeas, Lupines, Junipers, Magnolia, among others.Standard compost can cause ericaceous plants to become weak and their foliage turn yellow because the soil formula is incorrect. This will eventually lead them to die due to lack of nutrients. This because ericaceous plants need a lot of iron and other nutrients to flourish. Soils with a higher pH cause the nutrients to become insoluble, so your ericaceous plants are unable to absorb them.With a pH of 5-5.5, our Elixir Gardens Ericaceous Compost is perfect for ericaceous and acid loving plants. It has been enriched with nutrients to boost your plant health, promoting successful growth and beautiful flowers. Added peat which is naturally acidic, improves the soil as well as offering aeration and drainage.To give your ericaceous plants a boost, give them a feed with our Elixir Gardens Ericaceous Plant Feed four weeks after planting and then again every two weeks during the growing season.
